Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades: 3/1-5

Dear Parents,
Please remember that test papers from all classes are due back signed this Tuesday at the latest. Last week all grades worked on Social Studies foldables. These are used for the purpose of having students review important material before final exams; therefore, they should be done neatly and completely. (Students are shown how to do a sample in class.) This week and next all classes will be working on creating Religion foldables. Due to the snow day on Friday, work again will be rescheduled. The vocabulary test of Feb. 26 will be given this Friday and next week
there will be a review test of all definitions of the previous weeks; therefore there will be no new vocabulary definitions this week or next. Recent test papers are scheduled to be distributed by the principal on March 9th.

SECOND GRADE HOMEWORK:
3/1 SS - Study text pp. 170-173.
Rel- Test tomorrow on Mass responses. Study Mass Booklet in folder thoroughly.

3/2 SS - On looseleaf write heading. Answer 3 questions on p. 173 in sentences.

3/1 SS - Create foldable on the three branches of the government following sample done in class. Use construction paper and colored pencils. Duties of each branch must be listed inside.

3/2 SS - In notebook write Workbook p. 38. Answer all questions.
Rel - Memorize first part of the Apostle's Creed.

3/3 SS - In notebook write Workbook p. 39. Answer all questions.

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for Feb. 22 to 26

Dear Parents,
Test papers will be sent home this week to all grades. Please sign each test and return all together to me by this Friday, Feb. 26. Fourth grade work again had to be rescheduled due to Science Fair on Thursday which took the entire morning period. The Social Studies was given however to most students.

The vocabulary definitions for this week are:

Lent - the Church season lasting 40 days starting Ash Wednesday and ending Easter Sunday.
Triduum - three days in which we remember Jesus' passing from death: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday
Stations of the Cross -fourteen pictures showing Jesus' walk to Calvary and his crucifixion at which people stop to pray during Lent
fasting - eating sparingly (small amounts) or abstaining (giving up) food on certain days as a sacrifice
almsgiving - sharing what one has with those in need

SECOND GRADE HOMEWORK:
2/22 SS - In SS notebook write Chapter 7 p. 168. Look up definitions for the four words and write them.
Rel - Answer Workbook p. 30.

2/23 SS - On looseleaf write a heading. Copy the ten statements filling in the blanks corrrectly.
(Statements will be given in class)
Rel - Answer Workbook p. 31.

2/24 SS - On white paper draw and color all the landforms and waterbodies on p. 146 and label each one correctly.
Rel - Study the Mass booklet for quiz on Friday on Mass responses.

2/25 SS - Students create foldable based on the 3 communities studied in class. (Sample will be made in class.) Students must redo sample and write a description of each community inside.
Rel - Memorize the Apostles' Creed up to the word dead.

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades: Feb. 15-18

Dear Parents,
Due to the snow day last Wednesday, tests have been rescheduled for this week for all classes. And since fourth grade was split up on Thursday as well, classwork also needs to be rescheduled.
Below are the Social Studies vocabulary words for week:
legislative - branch of the government that makes the laws. Congress works for this branch.
judicial - branch of the government that makes sure the laws are fair. It includes the Supreme Court
executive - branch of the government that makes sure the laws are obeyed. President works for this branch.
Declaration of Independence - document explaining why the 13 colonies should be free of English rule
Constitution - document that outlines the most important laws that govern our country

SECOND GRADE HOMEWORK:
2/16 SS - On looseleaf write heading. Answer three questions on p. 165 in complete sentences.
Rel. - Study all notes and Chapters 11 and 12 on Reconciliation for test Wed.

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades 2/8-12

Dear Parents,
Please remember there is 12:00 dismissal this Friday. Also please remember that all students need to come in with three sharpened pencils and looseleaf every day, as well as copies of their paragraph organizers . Please check to see if your children are studying their notes (especially in Religion) since both 3rd and 4th graders will be taking the Archdiocesan exam this June and all the notes being recorded in their notebook each week are MOST IMPORTANT!
The vocabulary words for this week are in Religion:
Reconciliation - the name of the sacrament of confession
confession - telling our sins to the priest
contrition - being sorry for our sins
penance - prayer or kind act we do to make up for our sins
absolution - forgiveness of our sions by the priest
