Notices for Third Grade for 6/24 to 6/26

Dear Parents,                                                                    READ AGAIN !  UPDATED!
         It's almost time to bid good-bye for this year.   All students need to bring their book bags every day this week. Any books sent home should stay home.  Monday will be our clean up day. Please have students bring $3.00 to cover the price of two pizza slices and snacks (Students who want one slice should bring $2.00). If you  already bought your snack for the class,  let me know on Monday.   STUDENTS WHO  DO NOT BRING THEIR  TREAT FOR THE CLASS  NEED TO BRING $3.00.  On Tuesday ALL students should come dressed in uniform since we will be attending the eighth grade graduation at 11:00 and bring a change of clothes for the party which will be on Tuesday afternoon. Parents MUST have their children BRING IN their change of clothes in the morning along with and a bag with their name on it to store their uniform. PARENTS MAY NOT COME IN TO HELP THEM CHANGE!  Students should also bring their own juice (no large bottles and no glass).
        On Wednesday students may  come in dress up clothes like for Mass.  NO JEANS.  Boys must wear a collared shirt. Report cards will be distributed and there will be an assembly at 9:00 to give out honors and some special awards for students who have done well in certain areas throughout the year. Dismissal on Wed. has been changed to 11:00 a.m.  Students may bring one game, toy, or doll this week that can be played with at their desk (no electronics)
          At this time I want to thank every parent for their cooperation and support this year.  I want to thank also those who remembered my birthday this month.  I wish you all a very healthy, safe, and fun summer.                                                                        Love,

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th for 6/17 to 6/21

Dear Parents,
        This past week all students have been working on Penmanship.  This Monday (or Tuesday) ,  all students will be taking a Penmanship Exam. For third and fourth it will be in script.  Students should review forming all lower case and upper case letters as well as joining the following letters correctly:
 or,  oi,  oo,  od,  oe,  on,  om,  ol,  os,  ot,  an,  am, be,   bl,  br,  wh,  wr,  vi,  ov,  wo
          The ELA exam will be given to all  classes on Wed.  Review notes were give to ALL classes in their journal notebooks including vocabulary words and  literature selections to be reviewed. 
           Only the second grade will be taking a final exam in Religion on Thursday.  The third and fourth grades already had their Archdiocesan  Religion score recorded  on the SIS and were told their grade.  The second grade will receive their Religion Review notes on Monday.  Dismissal is at 12:00 on Friday.

FOURTH GRADE
Review notes on Scranimals,  Sojourner's Truth's speech  "Ain't I A Woman?"   as well as examples of  Ben Franklin's   adages in Poor Richard's Almanac, and "The Boy Who Wanted the Moon" from A Pride of African Tales.

THIRD  GRADE
Review notes on The Stories Julian Tells   and   Sarah, Plain and Tall  and real life connections to story events in either book.
Review research of facts on a planet and comparing it with another planet.
Review research on a creative or inventive person, examples of their work, and the influence of their work on the world.

SECOND GRADE
Review notes on how to write an autobiography.
Review notes including sample on how to write a book review including title, introduction (with name of book), opinion on what makes a certain character interesting, three reasons for that opinion, and a conclusion.
Review notes on writing the five parts of a letter and how to explain a problem you have.

FOR RELIGION FINAL EXAM, SECOND GRADERS SHOULD REVIEW THE FOLLOWING:

Definitions : Advent. Lent, Crucifixion, Resurrection, Ascension, Annunciation,  Pentecost,  Nativity, Epiphany, Incarnation, sin, grace, parables, miracles, scripture, almsgiving, host, church

Memorize the Ten Commandments by  number and explain how to obey each one.
Memorize names of the sacraments . 
Be able to describe what happens  in  the sacraments of Baptism and Reconciliation.  Be able to explain what happens in the parables of forgiveness and  lesson they teach: The Good Shepherd  or The Forgiving Father,

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grades for 6/3 to 6/7

    

Dear Parents,
        Now that the  Religion Archdiocesean Exam is over,  please check below for this  Tuesday's homework. THURSDAY'S HOMEWORK HAS BEEN ADDED! Remember 12:00 dismissal Friday.

FOUTH GRADE
6/4 Tues.  In Penmanship book do p. 72 NEATLY AND CAREFULLY.  Copy over the top and write six complete sentences for the  bottom.  Practice all JOININGS of two letters on pp. 30, 34, and 58.  Practice forming all lower case letters in script correctly. Penmanship Test will be given this Friday and an Exam next week.
6/6 Thurs. Spelling Test tomorrow in script on last two set of words on list: 4I and 4J.  Penmanship Test as well on forming lower case letters and joining letters as mentioned above.

THIRD GRADE
6/4 Tues. In Penmanship book answer pp. 90 and 91 NEATLY AND CAREFULLY. Practice all 26 sets of letters in each of the JOINING BOXES starting with p. 12 as shown in class.  
Practice forming all lower case letters in script correctly. Penmanship Test will be given this Friday and an Exam next week.
6/6 Thurs. Spelling Test tomorrow in script on last two set of words on list: 3I and 3J.  Penmanship Test as well on forming lower case letters and joining letters as mentioned above.

SECOND GRADE
6/4 Tues.  On looseleaf practice writing the Act of Contrition in your best handwriting.  Be sure to begin with a full heading.  REVIEW the Our Father and the Hail Mary to be recited to me this Friday for an oral quiz.
6/6 Thurs.  Spelling Test tomorrow on last two set of words on list: 2I and 2J.  Penmanship will count.
