Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th for Sept. 26th to 30th

Dear Parents,
         Hopefully you checked the blog I posted on Sunday morning with a reminder and a study guide for the Religion quiz given on Monday. Please remember to check blogs especially on Sunday mornings for important notices or study guides. Please remember also that there is NO SCHOOL this Wednesday and NO ELA QUIZ  this Friday. All students instead will have a writing assignment that will count as a quiz.  Please check below for this week's homework:

FOURTH GRADE
9/27 In Grammar Workshop study top of p. 32.  On looseleaf  write a heading. Answer p. 32 section A #1 to 8 and on p. 33  section B #6 to 10. Follow directions in the book.

9/29 Memorize any four Bible verses on sheet stapled in Religion notebook. Memorize names and definitions of all the virtues listed on another sheet in notebook. Be ready for assessment on Friday.
I WILL BE RETURNING CORRECTED HOMEWORK AND SOME CLASSWORK FROM THE PAST WEEKS ON FRIDAY.  PLEASE REVIEW CORRECTIONS WITH YOUR  CHILD SO THEY DON'T CONTINUE TO MAKE THE SAME ERRORS AND TO PREPARE FOR UPCOMING QUIZZES.

THIRD GRADE

Study Guide for Religion Quiz for Sept. 26 for 2nd, 3rd, &4th Grades

Dear Parents,
        Please remember that the first Religion quiz is scheduled for this Monday as stated on last Thursday's homework.  All students are to study all definitions and notes in their Religion notebooks and Chapter 1 in their Religion workbooks (Fourth grade should study Chapters 1 and 3.)  If for any reason children did not bring their books home or for additional review, see below.

Second graders should click on the link:    Second grade resources   and then click on  Unit 1. Click on AUDIO GLOSSARY under Games...Be sure to click on "Show by chapter" to get a row of numbers . Then click on 1 for the words.  Click on each word to see and hear its definition.  Go back and click on STUDY GUIDE Chapter 1 for a practice quiz.
Be sure to study all notes and definitions in the Religion notebook.

Classwork for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for Sept. 23

Dear Teachers,
         Below is the classwork for each grade for this Friday.  Whatever is not finished in class should be completed for homework.  Please have all students keep their classwork in their homework folder so I can collect it on Monday. Students should also keep Thursday's homework in the folder to hand in on Monday. Also please remind students to pack their Religion workbooks and notebooks to study for the Religion quiz on Monday!

FOURTH GRADE
Grammar Workbook:  On looseleaf write heading.  Study the top of p. 8 Complete p. 9 section B # 1 to 12.  Write punctuation mark and name of type of sentence for each.  Follow directions.

Religion: On looseleaf write heading. Answer p. 28. Write word with definition. DO NOT WRITE IN WORKBOOK.

THIRD GRADE
Grammar Workbook:  On looseleaf write heading.  Study the top of p. 28 Complete #1 to 7 and on p. 31 #1 to 6.  Follow directions.  

Religion:  On looseleaf write heading.  Answer p. 28.  Write the words using the code.  Look up and study the definition for each word.     DO NOT WRITE IN WORKBOOK.


SECOND GRADE
 Answer Voyages Workbook: pp. 9 and 10 on ONE  looseleaf. Begin with a heading.  Write each sentence beginning with a capital and ending with a period.  Follow directions in the book.  DO NOT WRITE IN THIS WORKBOOK!

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grades for Sept. 19 to 23

Dear Parents,
         Weekly quizzes will begin this week.  On Thursday all classes will have an ELA quiz.  All students should study the vocabulary definitions and notes in their ELA notebook.  The first Religion quiz will be on the following Monday. There will be a full day of school this Friday but I will NOT be in school since I am scheduled to attend a meeting that day.  I will be assigning classwork that needs to be completed and will be collected and graded on Monday.

FOURTH GRADE
9/20  Study all vocabulary definitions and notes in ELA notebook for ELA Weekly Quiz this Thursday:TEXT FEATURES (table of contents, index, glossary, time line, diagram, illustrations, caption, sidebar, bold print, italics, charts/graphs, heading  and subtitles), traditional, longhouse, clan, Haudenousunee, ancestor, confederacy, alliance, lacrosse.  Be prepared to write a paragraph about the traditional life of the Iroquois giving details about how their longhouses were made and used, crops they grew, the roles of men and women, and desciption of their beliefs and ceremonies based on what we studed in class.

9/22  Study Chapters 1 and 3 in Religion Workbook.  Answer pp. 30 and 54. DO NOT WRITE IN THE WORKBOOK! On ONE looseleaf write a full heading and answer one page on the front and other on the back. Study  ALL notes and definitions in the Religion notebook for Religion quiz on Monday.


THIRD GRADE
9/20  Study all vocabulary definitions and notes in ELA notebook for ELA Weekly Quiz this Thursday: gist, main idea, excerpt, evidence, stumble, long, abuzz, elegant, brilliant, cupboard, periphery, dusk, juicy, rucksack, tremulously, slumber

Homework and Notices for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th graders for Sept. 12 to 16


Dear Parents,
        We have our opening Mass this Thursday so all children should be in full school uniform and this Friday we have 12:00 dismissal.
        This is a reminder that it is very important that ALL grades have ALL their supplies, especially all required folders and notebooks in school by Monday!  The two completed emergency cards and other forms are due as well. This is a reminder to all FOURTH graders only to bring in THE EXACT AMOUNT $8.20 in an envelope BY THIS MONDAY PLEASE to send to Mr. Woods to order the book The  Iroquois: the Six Nation Confederacy  by Mary Englar.
            As I mentioned previously be Religion and Phonics Workbooks will be arrriving late so the work will be done on line.  I discovered that the Religion web site you have used before which provided the flash cards for each unit  has changed so I provided a direct link for each grade in order to access the flash cards. You must click on Unit 1 and look under Games and Study Aids.  When this is not provided you can refer to the Audio Glossary and click on Show by chapter to find the words and definitions. I will begin giving notes on Monday and children should refer to these notes and the web sites provided below for any assessments I will give.

Notices for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Graders for Sept. 9th

Dear Parents,
        Welcome back to a new school year! This is a reminder that ALL forms including both emergency cards (the back must be completed as well) are DUE no later than Monday. ALL folders and ALL notebooks are due on Monday as well. (Please remember ONLY to label with child's name.) This is very important since I will begin giving notes on Monday!   The summer homework (which required students to respond to questions on looseleaf based on the TWO books assigned by each  teacher) is due next week no later than Tuesday.
         FOURTH GRADERS ONLY will NEED to buy a book entitled: The Iroquois: The Six Nations Confederacy by Mary Englar.  The book costs $8.19 on Amazon.  You can either purchase it yourself or send $8.20 in an envelope which I will send to Mr. Woods so he can order for the class. Please order or send in the money as soon as possible because I plan to start using the book no later than Sept.19th if not before.
        Phonics and Religion Workbooks books have not arrived yet so I will be teaching these subjects via on line lessons or notes. Brief assessments will be given three times a week starting next week in each subject  based on what students have learned.
        Please the blog often for additional notices or homework.  I usually post weekly information or assignments on Sunday afternoons.  Thank you for your cooperation!
