Homework for Dec. 18 to Dec. 22 for Class 1-2

Dear Parents,
          This Tuesday there will be a Religion quiz on Advent and Christmas. On Monday students will be taking the on-line assessments for  the stories: A Fine, Fine School and The Recess Queen.
 On Thursday all students should dress up Christmas-sy  for our Lessons and Carols ceremony.  Students will take turns by class to sing in church.  We will be having our class party in the afternoon.  Please send in three dollars for our Christmas party.  I will order pizza and some snacks.  Students should bring in their own juice and ONE treat to share with their classmates. There will be no school on Friday.  We return Jan. 3rd.
            During vacation, students will need to bring home their Math book and any other book YOU wish them to review. For Math,  students will need to study all workbook pages and corrected exit tickets for Lessons 16 through 21 for quiz after vacation. For Reading, I have assigned a new set of leveled e-readers on www.pearsonrealize.com  which will be available from Thurs. Dec. 21st through Thurs. Jan. 4th. Students again will need to answer the followup questions in complete sentences from THREE of these books on loose leaf.  The games Pack Up Skills and Monster Mania for Unit 2 this time has also been assigned on www.pearsonrealize.com  Students will also be assigned ONE ELA article (to read and answer) and ONE Math complete assignment on student.frontrowed.com
               I will be giving students two new workbooks this week: a new Handwriting workbook with a Religion theme and a Religion workbook to be used mostly for homework assignments.
         In January our class will be preparing a display board for a Religion Fair.  Our class theme is Jesus' Miracles which I have already started reading about to the class.

Lesson Plan

Homework for Dec. 18th
Math - Do pp. 79 and 80.
Religion - In Reflections workbook do pp. 19 and 20. Write at least two complete sentences on p. 19.
Review Religion workbook pp. 156-158 and pp. 162-164 for quiz. There will also be some questions on Jesse tree Bible symbols covered in class.
***If you wish you can bring in money for the 8th grade bake sale.  Please don't send in big bills.

Homework for Dec. 19th
Math - Do pp. 83 and 84.
Phonics- Do pp. 81, 82, and 83.
Religion - In Reflections workbook do pp.18 and 21.  For p. 18 write Dec.  and the date for each. Start with the first Sunday this month and continue with the dates for the next three Sundays. For p. 21 follow directions on top.  Write two complete sentences about the picture you made.
*Our class has made an Advent calendar in which each student has learned to read and write Bible passages about the birth of Jesus.

***Bring in a strong plastic or fabric bag to pack up books in the cabinet.

Homework for Dec. 20th
Math - Do pp. 89 and 90.  You MUST read all directions and problems carefully!! Choose from  strategies listed in box on top right corner to write on each blank and then use that strategy.  Look at the previous pages you have done in class as a guide.
Phonics - Do pp. 84, 85, and 86.  On p. 84 write at least two sentences using the words in the box.
BRING IN THESE TWO WORKBOOKS TOMORROW SO I CAN CHECK THE WORK

I am sending home Math exit tickets 16 to 21 and the Math workbook to study for  the quiz after vacation. The grades of the last quizzes students took are  on cornerstone and can be seen if you have the password.  These quizzes  will be sent home after vacation.
Please remember to dress Christmas-sy (red, white, green) for Lessons and Carols in church.  Bring at least two packets of juice, and one bag of treats to share with the class. Remember to check the blog on Thursday.  I will restate the vacation homework.

Homework for Dec. 21st
           During vacation, for Math,  students will need to study all workbook pages and corrected exit tickets for Lessons 16 through 21 for quiz after vacation.
           For Reading, I have assigned a new set of leveled e-readers on www.pearsonrealize.com  which will be available from Thurs. Dec. 21st through Thurs. Jan. 4th. Students again will need to answer the follow up questions in complete sentences from THREE of these books on loose leaf. The books you can choose from are:  At School, Election Day, It Is Time to Get in Line, Let's Be Fair, My School, and The Class Play.  You may read but do not choose Off to School because it does not have questions. Go to CLASS and then scroll down to find the titles mentioned.  You may need to click on #2 or #3 to find all the titles.  Write a heading and do all the work on ONE sheet of loose leaf. The games Pack up Skills and Monster Mania for Unit 2 this time has also been assigned on www.pearsonrealize.com  and students should work on these as well.
          Students will also need to do ONE new  ELA article (to read and answer) and ONE new Math complete assignment on student.frontrowed.com. Remember to use the class code on the index card in the folder.

Homework for Dec. 11 to Dec. 15 for Class 1-2

Dear Parents,
          This Friday there will be 12:00 dismissal and Progress Reports will be distributed.

Lesson plan


Homework for Dec. 11 
Math- Do pp. 61 and 62.  Follow all directions.  Study Lessons 12 through 15 in workbook and corrected exit tickets 12 to 15 for quiz tomorrow on subtraction.  Emphasis will be on being able to follow ALL directions correctly.
Phonics-  Do pp. 66 and 70 -these two pages only!
Parent please review and sign the FIVE quizzes (Phonics, Math Mid Module Assessment, Religion, Social Studies, and Science) which I sent home and return no later than this Thursday!

Homework for Dec. 12
No Math homework tonight!
Phonics - Do pp. 71, 72, and 73.
Social Studies-On loose leaf write a heading.  Answer  BOTH questions in textbook p. 97.  For #1 write four sentences using the words First, Next, Then, and Last to explain what happens in correct order.
Science - On lose leaf write a heading.  Answer BOTH questions in textbook p. C31.

Homework for Dec. 13
Math - Do pp. 65 and 66.
Phonics - Do pp. 74 and 75.
Science-  Use the weather chart paper prepared in class to record the weather each day starting Dec. 13 and ending  Dec. 18 (Wed. to Mon.). Papers will be collected on Mon.  Students are to check off the type or types of weather observed each day (even Sat. & Sun.) and at the bottom (next to the thermometer) students are to write the approximate temperature outside. Check on line by typing in today's temperature  to get one answer for the number of degrees.  After recording this information each day, students are to keep the paper in the folder so we review it daily.
ELA- Students will do their quiz tomorrow on opinion writing based on A Fine, Fine School   and  The Recess Queen  explaining how the characters  in each book acted as class citizens.

Homework for Dec. 14
Math - Do pp. 69 and 70.
Phonics- Do pp. 76, 77, and 78.
ELA- Study the meaning of the following vocabulary words in the notebook:  bullied, snarled,  dared, stared,  giggled,  disaster.
*Remember to fill in the weather chart for today!
*Remember to send back five quizzes signed.  Reminder: 12:00 dismissal tomorrow!

Homework for Dec. 15
Math - Do pp. 73 and 74.
Phonics- Read pp. 79-80.
Religion- Do pp. 160 and 164 in the book.  Study pp. 156-158 on Advent and pp. 162-164 on Christmas for quiz on Monday,
*Remember to fill in the weather chart on Friday,  Saturday, and Sunday.
*No Progress Reports were given out today!!!
***The on-line selection tests for AFine, Fine School and The Recess Queen will be given next week which will mark the end of Unit 2 Module A. Then we begin Module B with two new stories.

Homework for Dec. 4 to 8 for Class 1-2

Homework for Dec. 4
PLEASE SEE THE MESSAGE ON IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL STUDENTS ON THE SCHOOL BLOG. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Math - Do pp, 43 and 44 in workbook.  Find each incorrect answer and show how to answer the problem correctly.  Review ALL corrected exit tickets for Mid Module Quiz tomorrow.
Science- Study Chapter 5 on Science sheets (C4 to C9  and C12 to C15) and vocabulary definitions in notebook for short assessment tomorrow.
***In order to have your children take advantage of some on the on-line resources available on www.pearsonrealize.com  I have assigned two interactive activities that have been assigned and will be available ALL WEEK for practice.  The first is called Pack Up the Skills (to work on vowels) and the second is called Monster Word Mania (to work on classifying words). The ones I assigned are for Unit 2 Module A which we are covering now, but there are similar games for each upcoming unit.  Please make sure your child logs on so that his/her work can be monitored and recorded and enjoy these learning games!

Phonics- Do pp. 54, 55. and 56. Read directions
Social Studies-  Study pp. 82 to 93 in text book.  On loose leaf  write a heading and answer workbook p. 24  and on p. 25  #1, 2, 3.

Homework for Dec. 6
Math - Do pp. 47 and 48 in the workbook.
Phonics- Do pp. 57, 58, and 59.
Social Studies-  Review pp. 82 to 93 in text book and all Social Studies vocabulary definitions in notebook for quiz tomorrow.

Homework for Dec. 7
Math - Do pp. 53 and 54.
Phonics- Read pp. 61-62 and answer pp. 60 and 63. Follow directions!
Science- Review all Science sheets C4 to C23 and vocabulary definitions in notebook for quiz tomorrow.
***Keep working on the learning games!!!!

Homework for Dec. 8
Math-Do pp. 57 and 58.  Follow the model on top right. There will be a Math quiz next Tues. (or Wed.) on subtraction.  Begin studying workbook starting with p. 45 (Lesson 12) to p. 58.
Phonics- Do pp, 63, 64, 65.  Follow directions!
***I will be checking on line on Sunday to see what work was done on the learning games on www.pearsonrealize.com.  THIS HOMEWORK IS REQUIRED!                                                                      Students have also received their log in information for the on-line Front Row program.  Having completed a pretest in both ELA and Math, students are now able to work on math skills in "Operations and Algebraic Thinking" and in "ELA articles " in ELA if they wish.  We will be working on these at school mostly but you may check it out if you wish.
