Notices for April 25 to 29

 Dear Parents,

Welcome back!  I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break!  This week most students will be taking the NYSESELAT Speaking Test which must be given individually so I will giving a few at a time during the week. There will be a Reading Test on Tues. on the book Goods and Services.  I will also begin giving Spelling quizzes again this week to review certain words on the original Spelling list. The first one will be on Wednesday.  I will  introduce the new book Supermarket this week and give a Vocabulary quiz on this book on Friday.

Students still have time this week to finish reading the last set of leveled readers and decodable books.  The new set will not be assigned until May 2nd. Please remember to have students bring in their folders, sharpened pencils, and a set of colored pencils.  Folders should be emptied out except for their Spelling list.  Old papers should be kept in a box at home especially corrected Math exit tickets which should be reviewed before the upcoming test on Module 5.

The spring (final)  NWEA MAP Tests for first graders in Reading and Math are scheduled for May 17 and May 19.

Notices for April 4 to 8

 Dear Parents,

This Tuesday we have Mass at 9:00 and the Honors Assembly will be held right after the Mass.  Parents of those receiving awards are invited to attend the ceremony. On Thursday we have Open House for parents who wish to see our class but only from 9:00 to 10:00.

The End of Module 4 Math Test is being given this Tues. and Vocabulary Quiz on Goods and Services is scheduled for Wed.  On Fri. all books must be packed up and put in the back cabinets for the Easter break.  All desks and seat sacks will be cleaned out.

After the break, please have students bring a set of about 8 sharpened colored  pencils.  These are more useful than crayons for the work we will be doing in the future.  They will also be using their personal white board, dark dry erase marker, and a dry erase eraser for Math activities almost every day. Students should also have either a book to read or their Highlights magazine every day -- no coloring books.

Over the break, I strongly recommend working on the Edgenuity program in both Reading and Math to keep skills sharp.  More information on this is provided on google classroom.
