IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR SEPT. 21 ABOUT GOOGLE CLASSROOM

 Dear Parents,

The password for classroomgoogle.com had to be reset by administration. I have posted today's homework below so you can see it for now.  Please look for a note tomorrow in your child's folder with the new password and begin using only that one from now on.

We are not using the one from last year any more. Please DO NOT try to reset anything yourself. You must use only the new password I will send you tomorrow. This is important because various programs have been synched together and this can cause problems for you getting access.

Below is the homework for Tues, Sept. 21:

Math- Do pp.  25 and 26 (Lesson 6) Use pp. 23-24 as a guide.
Spelling- Study how to spell following sight words:  him, his, how, just, know
Reading- Reading Test  tomorrow on Stellaluna. This test will include the vocabulary terms above as well as questions based on a story I will read aloud, and finally some Phonics on initial consonant sounds and short /a/.  They will also draw a picture with a short sentence on a topic I give them.

Parents,  I am sending the slip for the Highlights High Five magazines today.  Please check yes or no and sign at the red star. I ask that all parents sign even if you check no (so we can receive the free gifts). You will ONLY be billed if you check yes. Tomorrow I will send the slips for Highlights Puzzle Buzz magazines.

***I have begun giving students brief Science assessments based on the videos I am showing in class and the review discussions we have afterwards. Social Studies assessments will be done the same way.  When I schedule actual quizzes in these subjects,  I will let you know and provide study guides for review.

***The Title 1 program for first graders  will continue every Tuesday and Thursday after school. Parents should pick up students in the cafeteria  at 5:00.  Please be aware that the Title 1 program does offer additional instruction to assist students but DOES NOT provide help with homework assignments.
***You MUST contact the school in order to get the password to see grades on Educate. I do recommend that you do.

Notices for Sept. 20 to 24

 Dear Parents,

Please be aware that, as stated on the school blog, breakfast for students is served ONLY between 8:00 and 8:20 am.  We have been leaving to go to church at 8:15 so I usually start giving out breakfast BEFORE prayers. I need to begin teaching at 8:30 and all must be put away by then. Some students have been arriving very late.  Students should be here for prayers, and earlier if they wish to have time for breakfast.    The students' lunch period is from 11:00 to 11:45.

This week I plan to have all students start using their personal white boards for Math so I would appreciate that parents make sure their children have their board, at least two dark dry erase markers, and a dry erase eraser. I will be sending the slips for the three different Highlights magazines this week. See google classroom for details.

I notice that a few parents are still clicking "submit" for homework on google classroom.  This is not necessary if students are doing homework in their workbooks.  All that is needed is that they complete the work daily and bring in their book so I can check.

I have been entering grades on Educate so you can keep track of your child's progress.  This week students have Vocabulary, Reading, Phonics, and Spelling tests.  Next week there will be a Religion and Math test.  Study guides for both will be available on google classroom by Friday.

Notices for Week of Sep. 13 to 17

 Dear Parents,

Thank you for your cooperation.   All have accepted my invitation to google classroom (except one). Although I will be posting some messages on this blog, most of my communication with you from now on will be via google classroom. It is very important that you click on "classroom" in your google account and under the "classwork" tab DAILY to see assignments and study guides. Besides that, I will also be posting a link on my blog to view each week's lesson plan but please be aware that often modifications may be necessary.

Every evening I post the homework assignment for the following day and on Fridays I post information about upcoming quizzes the following week so that students have time to prepare. It is very important that students bring to school and take home their homework folder every day. Any copies I send home cannot be replaced so I suggest making an extra copy to keep at home for safe keeping.

Some parents have not yet sent in the TWO required EMERGENCY CARDS and the set of sign in sheets.  These are ALL due in the office by this Friday. Although I did not put this on my supply list, I need to ask all parents to send in ONE package of blank printing paper (about 100 sheets is fine).  These will be sent to the office so test copies can be made. This is necessary since at present there are not enough chrome books for all students. Two parents have already sent it in so this excludes you.

When I begin sending books home for homework assignments, PLEASE make sure your child ONLY does the work assigned for that day and that he brings the books back to school the following day so I can check.  Be aware that we are still awaiting a few workbooks. Please do not cover books unless the covers are clear since this often confuses children dealing a lot of different workbooks.

As always thank you for your cooperation and support!
