HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE RELIGION FAIR: 2nd, 3rd, 4th GRADES

Dear Parents,
This week I will be helping all classes prepare for the Religion fair which will be held on March 29th. I have given each student a different assignment (with a few exceptions) and we have discussed these in class. I will be referring to them as Religion Projects with a Personal Touch. Second graders will be working on Little Bible Projects. The third grade topic is Saints and Sacraments and fourth graders have been assigned HOT (High Order Thinking) TOPICS. What is required for each project is detailed below.

SECOND GRADE LITTLE BIBLE PROJECTS
Each second grader will be given a sheet this week with specific directions on how to make a model with easy-to-get materials related to a Bible story. They will prepare an index card to be attached to their project with their name, a brief explanation of the story, and the part of the Bible where it is found. ALL PROJECTS SHOULD BE ABOUT THE SIZE OF AN ADULT SHOE BOX. Direction sheets MUST be returned with the project!

THIRD GRADE SAINTS AND SACRAMENTS POSTERS
Each third grader has already chosen a saint or a sacrament for their display. Students need to print a variety of color pictures using Google images that best describe their topic. In the case of the sacraments, students should find pictures showing the symbols (eg. candle, ring), people present (eg. godparents, bishop) and certificates, clothing worn. If a saint was chosen, students should find various color pictures of their saint along with anything related to their saint (eg. prayer assiciated with St. Fraces, Litany for Mary, St. Patrick's Cathedral). All third graders must have a personal writing piece in script on looseleaf with a title and ONE paragaph in the child's own words describing what happens in the sacrament or explaining what that saint has done to make him (or her) their favorite. These writing pieces will be reviewed, corrected, and graded in class.

FOURTH GRADE HOT (HIGH ORDER THINKING) TOPICS
Each fourth grader will need to reseach their question (assigned in class)using google and google images. Students should find a variety of color pictures that best describe their topic. The title of their display must be in the form of the question given in class and clearly printed in large lettering. All fourth grade projects must have a personal writing piece in script on looseleaf with a title and TWO paragraphs that answer the question as well as possible. These writing pieces will be reviewed, corrected, and graded in class.

***By Tuesday third and fourth grade students should bring in a large plastic bag storage bag with pictures, printed out research, outline of their writing ideas, etc. so I can give suggestions on how to help students set up their three panel poster boards (for 3rd & 4th only). Poster boards are available in the school supply office but are NOT to be set up yet!

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, 4th Grades 3/7 to 3/11

Dear Parents,
The third grade Religion quiz on the essay questions listed in notebook will be rescheduled to this Monday due to my absesnce on Thursday and early dismissal on Friday. The Vocabulary (Word Wall) test will be given this Thursday since there is no school this Friday. Progress Reports will also be sent home this Thursday. Be aware that on this report any grade showing 70.00 means the child is presently failing in that area so far in this quarter and needs to give it extra attention.

Below are the vocabulary definitions for this week in Language Arts:
