Since third and fourth grade students will be taking the New York State ELA Exam this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, I will not be assigning any other homework except review work I posted this weekend. I am posting this again below since students will not be answering short responses and extended responses till Wed. and Thurs. Please check back on Thursday for additional homework!

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for March 20 to 24
Dear Parents,
This Monday, March 20th., I will not be in school since it is my turn to attend the Grade Level Meeting. There will be a substitute teacher. The previous meeting I was going to attend was cancelled.
Please be aware that those receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the FIRST time will have their special ceremony this Thursday at 11:00, and probably will be allowed to leave afterward for the day to celebrate with their family.
Please remember that the work assigned on Thursday from the New York State Exam for all classes is due. Please hold work till I return on Tuesday!
Due to the snow day on Tues.and the Baptism ceremonies on Thurs. most work had to rescheduled once again. I am posting the I ready lesson that I assigned last week. I posted it early since the lessons take over an hour and should be done carefully! IT MUST BE COMPLETED BY WEDNESDAY! There will be a Religion quiz on Friday for all classes.

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for March 13 to 17.
Dear Parents,
This week the second, third and fourth will be completing a module (or domain) assessment based on the work they have been doing in class and these will be counted as quizzes. The second grade will be taking a Social Quiz as well on Chapter 8 (please see below for a guideline). I was not able to see the third grade at all on Friday due to a meeting followed by Stations of the Cross; therefore work has been rescheduled and the Religion quiz will be given on Monday!
Dismissal on Monday is at 12:00. On Thursday I will NOT be at school since it is my turn to attend the Grade level meeting all teachers are required to attend. On Friday school is closed. I WILL BE ASSIGNING HOMEWORK ON THURSDAY SO PLEASE CHECK BACK. I strongly recommend that all students work on IXL and I -Ready since the ELA State Exam is about 10 days away!

Know the definition of the three DOCUMENTS: Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Be able to describe each of the following SYMBOLS: flag, Liberty Bell, Great Seal, Uncle Sam. Be able to write out three things a person must do to become a naturalized citizen.
3/16 ELA- Study all vocabulary definitions and notes in Domain 11 section for assessment next week. Although the following is third grade work, I recommend that second graders begin practicing for the state test so please do the following homework and bring it in on Monday.

THERE WILL BE LENTEN CONFESSIONS FOR THIRD AND FOURTH GRADERS ON TUESDAY AT 9;00. A reminder to FOURTH GRADERS to complete the first paragraph of their thought question from Friday's lesson on Achieve 3000. This week we will complete the second paragraph and move on!

This week we are beginning the Church season of Lent so we will have Mass this Ash Wednesday at 10:30. We are celebrating Hippie Day on Tuesday so children may dress up for this event. We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss' Day on Thursday and students may also dress up as characters from this author's books on that day. Progress Reports will be given out this Friday. These must be signed and returned next Monday. SINCE THE FOURTH GRADE WAS SPLIT UP DUE TO TEACHER'S ABSENCE, I WILL NEED TO GIVE THEM THE ELA QUIZ ON MONDAY. SECOND GRADE WILL BE TAKING THE DOMAIN 2 TEST ON MONDAY.

FOURTH GRADE
2/28 Religion- Study Chapter 19 (eighth commandment) and 20 (Lent) for quiz next week. In the Religion notebook under the aim given in class copy each Beatitude and under each copy how to live that Beatitude from p. 35 in your textbook. STUDY WHAT YOU COPIED!!!
3/1 Recent quizzes in ELA and Religion are being sent home today (two in each subject). Please review them well, especially the writing section. Some students are failing to answer ALL parts of the question, or not reading and following directions correctly. I explained to them how extremely important this is! Please return all quizzes signed by Monday.
3/1 In Grammar Workshop study how to write a friendly letter and a business letter on p.216. Then on looseleaf write a full heading. Read the directions on the top of p. 219 and choose to write either a friendly letter or a business letter including all five letter parts as shown. The body of the letter must have 5 or 6 sentences. Be sure to follow the models on p. 216 (not 218-it has errors). If you choose a friendly letter the heading just only be the date.
THIRD GRADE

This week we are beginning the Church season of Lent so we will have Mass this Ash Wednesday at 10:30. We are celebrating Hippie Day on Tuesday so children may dress up for this event. We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss' Day on Thursday and students may also dress up as characters from this author's books on that day. Progress Reports will be given out this Friday. These must be signed and returned next Monday. SINCE THE FOURTH GRADE WAS SPLIT UP DUE TO TEACHER'S ABSENCE, I WILL NEED TO GIVE THEM THE ELA QUIZ ON MONDAY. SECOND GRADE WILL BE TAKING THE DOMAIN 2 TEST ON MONDAY.

3/1 Recent quizzes in ELA and Religion are being sent home today (two in each subject). Please review them well, especially the writing section. Some students are failing to answer ALL parts of the question, or not reading and following directions correctly. I explained to them how extremely important this is! Please return all quizzes signed by Monday.
3/1 In Grammar Workshop study how to write a friendly letter and a business letter on p.216. Then on looseleaf write a full heading. Read the directions on the top of p. 219 and choose to write either a friendly letter or a business letter including all five letter parts as shown. The body of the letter must have 5 or 6 sentences. Be sure to follow the models on p. 216 (not 218-it has errors). If you choose a friendly letter the heading just only be the date.

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th for Feb. 20th to 24th
Dear Parents,
Due to circumstances beyond our control, including MAP testing, Valentine rehearsals and show, and other matters that needed attention, some classes were not seen. Second grade was able to take the Religion quiz but the third and fourth grades will need to take it on Tuesday, Feb. 21st. so please see below for review guidelines. Bullying curriculum will also be completed this week.
FOURTH
2/20 Religion quiz is rescheduled for Tuesday. Review Chapters 15, 16, and 18 on the 4th, 5th, 7th commandments. Be sure to know different ways to follow each of the commandments as stated in the text book. Also memorize the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy and ways to practice each.
2/21 In Grammar Workshop read top of p. 115 and follow sample to do D #1 to 5. Also read top of p. 220 and on p. 221 do B #1 to 6. Answer all on one loose leaf. On IXL practice XX1 (prefix/suffix) and NN1 (dialogue). Be sure to log in because I will be grading you on this IXL work!
