Weekly Notices for May 30 to June 2

 Dear Parents,

            Hope you all had a fine holiday weekend!  As June approaches, this is a reminder that students are scheduled to have their final Math Summative Unit 6 Test this Wed. There will a Reading test on A Picnic in October on Thurs.  Students should also come dressed for GYM on Thursday.   SCHOOL IS CLOSED ON FRI., JUNE 2.

           I will continue to give a few quizzes during June in Reading, Religion, Social Studies, and Science  so please be sure to check google classroom assignments daily for study guides.

Weekly Notices for May 22 to 26

 Dear Parents,

           This is a reminder that all students should bring in their two page Social Studies homework that is in their folder.  A two page Science homework assignment will be given out on Monday and will be due on Tuesday.  Please remember also that a Vocabulary quiz on A Picnic in October  is scheduled for Monday.  The Science Quiz is scheduled for Tuesday.  Please see study guides on google classroom. 

             As mentioned previously, I will be absent on Wed. and Thurs. but will leave classwork for the students, as well as homework on google classroom.  School is closed on on Fri., May 26 and Mon., May 29.  We are almost finished Math Module 6 so our final End of the Module 6 Test is coming up perhaps the last week of May.  Please keep checking google classroom daily for all assignments. Weekly Notices for May 15 to 19

 Dear Parents,

       Please remember to have your child wear gym clothes on MONDAY.  Also please remember to send in your child's test folder with all test signed.  The MAP test for Math is scheduled for this Tuesday and MAP test for Reading for this Wednesday.  Each test will begin promptly at 8:30 so it is very important that students arrive ON TIME!  Please have your children bring their own headphone if you like so that they feel more comfortable.  No homework will be assigned this week until MAP testing is over so students have every opportunity to practice Edgenuity.

      There will be a Reading Test on Thurs. on One Classroom, Many Cultures. We will have Mass at 10:00 for Ascension Thursday followed by the May crowning of our Blessed Mother.  There is NO SCHOOL on Friday.  On Thursday I will only be posting study guides for the following week's tests.

      In Science and Social Studies students  continue to practice reading  comprehension by responding to questions based on passages on topics we are covering in those subjects. Please check your child's folder for corrected work done on looseleaf.

Weekly Notices for May 8 to 12

 Dear Parents,

          This week students will have the Summative Unit 5 Reading Test on Tues., Vocabulary and  Writing Test on Wed., the Mid Module 6 Math Test on Thurs., and  Religion Quiz on Fri.  Students are also scheduled to have GYM on Friday. 

          We will be completing the Science Workbook this week and students will receive their last new workbook on Plant Growth next week.  In Social Studies students will continue to work on identifying different landforms and water bodies.

          A look ahead:  On the week of May 15 to 19, students will have GYM on Monday, The MAP Math Test will be on Tuesday, The MAP Reading Test will be on Wednesday, and on Friday school is closed.  Students should be practicing Edgenuity every day to work on computer skills as well as Math and Reading skills to prepare for these important tests.  

Weekly Notices for May 1 to 5

 Dear Parents,

           IMPORTANT!  Honors Assembly will be after morning prayers on MONDAY. Parents invited.        (I just received the notice this afternoon.)  GYM will be on Thursday.  There will be 12:00 dismissal on Friday.  

            There will be a Religion Quiz on Tues. on Chapter 9, Reading Test on Wed. on The Sun, a Social Studies Quiz on Thurs. on Earth Day, and a Spelling Quiz on Friday.  

            I will be introducing the next book this week A Picnic in October.   In Religion we will be working on Chapter 10.  In Science we will continue with the section on the Moon and in Social Studies more on landforms and water bodies.  

           Students should continue working on reading and math skills on Edgenuity and for a challenge please remember the Math games I assigned on Discovery. You can find both by typing in clever.com using your child's google account.

Weekly Notices for April 24 to 28

 Dear Parents,

         This week students will have a Reading test on Tues., Vocabulary quiz on Wed., Science Quiz on Thurs., and a Spelling quiz on Fri. Please refer to google classroom daily assignments for study guides.

            We will be studying Chapter 9 in Religion. In Reading we will be completing Unit 5 by next week. In Math we are working on the final Module which is 6.   In Social Studies students will still be working on the Earth Day theme (celebrated on April 22nd).  In Science we will be reviewing facts about the moon with another quiz coming up in the first week of May.  

        The NWEA MAP Test is scheduled for week of May 8th (unless there is a change).  All students should work at least a half hour a day on either Reading or Math skills on Edgenuity.  Remember that students need practice with computer skills as well.  You can find Edgenuity when you type in clever.com (once your child is on his/her google account).  You can also find Discovery as well.  I assigned  a video and two math games for multiplication and division practice if you would like to try the challenge.

        

      

Weekly Notices for April 17 to 21

 Dear Parents,

           Welcome back!  I hope you all had a blessed and enjoyable Easter break.  Please read carefully the important notices below:

             This Friday, April 21 first graders are scheduled to have gym and dismissal will be at 12:00 so that Parent-Teacher Conferences can be held from 1:00 to 6:00 pm.  Report cards will be distributed on Thursday afternoon so you can have them on hand for the meeting.  There will NO after school on Friday.  I am posting a time schedule for this meeting below so that you can select a time slot.  You must send me an email regarding the time you prefer so I can list names in order.  

               This week there will be a Religion quiz on Tues. on the Lenten and Easter seasons.  A Vocabulary Quiz is scheduled for Wed. and our End of Module 5 Summative Math Test will be on Thurs.  There will be a Spelling quiz on Fri.  Please check google classroom daily homework assignments for study guides.

             We are presently on Unit 5 Module B in Reading and will be starting Module 6 in Math next week.  In Religion students will be working on Chapter 9.  In Science will continue studying the solar system and in Social Studies we will be learning about protecting our earth's natural resources using discoveryeducation.com   Earth Day is  on April 22nd!

            Lunch has been rescheduled on Wed. and Thurs. from 12:00 to 12:45 so please make sure students have a good breakfast on those days. Report cards have been completed and will need to be reviewed by Mr. Woods this week. I will announce those receiving honors after that. 

           The time schedule for this Friday's meeting is below so you may choose an in-person or zoom session. Please send me email as soon as possible. I will send a link for the zoom meeting to your child's email on Thursday afternoon.
