Welcome back! Fourth graders will be taking the NYS English Language Exam on April 16, 17, and 18 and dismissal will be at 12:00 on April 19th. This week is regular except for adjustments in scheduling due to visits and meetings with coaches for all classes . PLEASE SEE MY PREVIOUS BLOGS FOR STUDY NOTES TO FOCUS ON DURING EASTER VACATION.

FOURTH GRADE
Tues 4/9 ELA Click on following link: http://teachingkidsnews.com/2013/04/04/2-new-blue-jays-pitcher-wants-pit-bull-ban-to-end/ Read the story carefully. On looseleaf write your OPINION on what should happen. Then write THREE different REASONS that you have thiis opinion and THREE DETAILS from the story CITING EVIDENCE that support these reasons.
(Students will do a sample story in class.)

Thurs 4/11 REL Review the definitions on http://www.studystack.com/flashcard-258432.
Using a blank sheet sheet of white paper folded vertically, create a foldable (as demonstrated in class) listing each of the ten commandments correctly printed in front and cutting a slit to the fold after writing each commandment, print one way in which a fourth grader would follow that commandment
on the back half of the folded sheet (which should not be cut) under each commandment. Work should be done neatly and correctly and by the student himself.
THIRD GRADE
Tues 4/9 ELA Click on following link:
http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/immigration/tour/ Take the interactive tour visiting all TEN stations reading carefully. Then on looseleaf write a heading. List in CHRONOLOGICAL order SIX important events that ocurrred between 1800 and 2000. Print neatly the date and information.

Create a four square story map for your favorite parable by Jesus. Each square needs to have a colored picture and a one or two sentences describing what is happening in each scene. The pictures
and sentences must tell the story in correct sequence. Work must be done neatly and correctly and by the student himself.
SECOND GRADE
Tues 4/9 ELA On looseleaf write a heading. Do a book review on a book of your choice. Be sure to include the title of the book (underlined and in capitals), the author, your opinion, THREE reasons for your opinion citing evidence from the book and a conclusion.
Thurs.4/11 Study the definitions of ALL vocabulary words on the review sheet.
Using the foldable given in class, finish drawing and coloring a picture for each part of Reconciliation written on the lower tabs. The inside write a definition for each in complete sentence. Work should be done neatly and completely and by the student himself.
