I am requesting if possible that all students in THIRD grade buy a small THESAURUS no later than Monday. It will be very useful in helping them with their vocabulary development, their
essay writing, as well as their spelling. We will be using them in class regularly and students can also use it for some homework assignments. Ask for one more appropriate for children use in any major book store.You can also check the libraries which often have copies you can borrow. Please be sure it is easy to carry but not with lettering so small students have difficulty seeing. Unlike a dictionary, a thesaurus gives synonyms for commonly used words. Learning the different shades of meaning among similar words and using them in the correct context is a very important and necessary SKILL required in the COMMON CORE standards!
