Dear Parents,
The final Interim test (on the computer for 3rd and up) will be given next week in both ELA and Math. All students should be reviewing their Unit 3 ELA notes recorded in their notebooks. Please see below for this week's homework for each grade.
FOURTH GRADE
ELA 2/6 Based on the book of FICTION you have been reading (as assigned last week), answer the following questions on loose leaf. Be sure the book is on the same animal for which you did your non-fiction research. Write a full heading and answer all questions.
*title and author of the book of fiction you chose to read
*type of narration (first or third person)
*animal character (name given to the character)
*two character traits that describe the animal character (citing evidence in text of animal displaying these traits)
*two examples of personification used in the text
* a synonym for the character
*an antonym for the character
*a summary of no more than six sentences using the Somebody- Wanted-But-So- strategy.
Somebody refers to the character. Wanted refers to what motivates the character. But refers to the problem the character faces. So refers to the solution to the problem.
REL 2/4 Prepare a four part story board: four pictures on construction paper or drawing paper with two or three sentences from the text book explaining different ways to obey ONE of the following : either the fourth, fifth, or sixth commandment. The pictures should be placed side by side.
THIRD GRADE
ELA 2/4 Watch the video on simple, compound, and complex sentences on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvhC0eSIb3g and study the lesson on comparing the sentences on http://www2.ivcc.edu/rambo/eng1001/sentences.htm . Then on loose leaf write a heading. Write a simple sentence about the creative or inventive person you researched. and label it simple. Then write a compound sentence about the person and label it compound. Finally, write a complex sentence about the person and label it complex.
REL 2/6 Print out Unit 4 flash card words, cut out and put on index cards with word on one side and definition, place in a plastic sandwich bag, label it Unit 4 and your name. STUDY!
SECOND GRADE
ELA 2/4 Watch a video on ONE of the following women: Ruby Bridges, Harriet Tubman, or Rosa Parks. On loose leaf write a heading. Write the name as the title. Write a paragraph of six sentences describing events in her life that describe how this person fought for freedom.

REL 2/5 Review the Ten Commandments and what each one means. TRY TO MEMORIZE THE COMMANDMENTS on pp. 112 and 115 or in notebook. Review how to obey each of the commandments on the bulleted list.
