Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for Feb. 22 to 26

Dear Parents,
Test papers will be sent home this week to all grades. Please sign each test and return all together to me by this Friday, Feb. 26. Fourth grade work again had to be rescheduled due to Science Fair on Thursday which took the entire morning period. The Social Studies was given however to most students.

The vocabulary definitions for this week are:

Lent - the Church season lasting 40 days starting Ash Wednesday and ending Easter Sunday.
Triduum - three days in which we remember Jesus' passing from death: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday
Stations of the Cross -fourteen pictures showing Jesus' walk to Calvary and his crucifixion at which people stop to pray during Lent
fasting - eating sparingly (small amounts) or abstaining (giving up) food on certain days as a sacrifice
almsgiving - sharing what one has with those in need

SECOND GRADE HOMEWORK:
2/22 SS - In SS notebook write Chapter 7 p. 168. Look up definitions for the four words and write them.
Rel - Answer Workbook p. 30.

2/23 SS - On looseleaf write a heading. Copy the ten statements filling in the blanks corrrectly.
(Statements will be given in class)
Rel - Answer Workbook p. 31.

2/24 SS - On white paper draw and color all the landforms and waterbodies on p. 146 and label each one correctly.
Rel - Study the Mass booklet for quiz on Friday on Mass responses.

2/25 SS - Students create foldable based on the 3 communities studied in class. (Sample will be made in class.) Students must redo sample and write a description of each community inside.
Rel - Memorize the Apostles' Creed up to the word dead.

THIRD GRADE HOMEWORK
2/22 SS - In notebook write Workbook p. 36. Write out sentences filling in blanks.
Rel - Answer Workbook p. 26

2/23 SS - In notebook write Workbook p. 37. Answer each in a sentence.
Rel - Answer Workbook p. 27.

2/24 SS - Use construction paper to make a foldable (3 tab book) describing each of the documents: Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights. (Sample will be created in class.)
Rel - Answer ten questions on the smart board lesson done in class.

2/25 SS - Use construction paper to make foldable on the branches of the government. (Sample will be created in class.)
Rel - Answer textbook p. 240.

FOURTH GRADE HOMEWORK
2/22 SS - In notebook write Workbook p. 35. Copy each sentence and follow directions on top.
Rel - Answer Workbook p. 30.

2/23 SS - In notebook write Workbook p. 36. Answer in sentences.
Rel - Answer Workbook p. 34.

2/24 SS - Using construction paper make a foldable showing the 13 colonies. (Samplewill be shown in class.
Rel - Memorize the Corporal and the Spiritual Works of Mercy for quiz on Friday

2/25 SS - Using construction paper make a foldable showing the 5 regions of New York: West,
Southwest, Northwest, Southeast, Northeast. Write a description of each inside.
Rel - Memorize Jesus' Two Great Commandments (Luke 10:27) and Jesus' New
Commandment (John 13: 34)
