Dear Parents,
This week test papers will be distributed by the principal and myself. Each test must be signed and returned to whichever teacher made up the test NO LATER THAN THIS FRIDAY, MAY 14th. Dismissal is at 2:30 this Friday. THIS WEEK ALL STUDENTS SHOULD BRING ROSARY BEADS AND TWO SHEETS OF LIGHT BLUE CONSTRUCTION PAPER TO CLASS. Religion quizzes will be given to all three grades any day this week since there is a break in state testing. Please have students review all definitions and anything listed to be memorized in the Religion notebooks.
The second grade Spring Show will be on Mon., May 24th at 5:00 p.m. All children will need to wear Spring colored dress up clothes - no sneakers or jeans. If sandals are worn they must be secure on the feet and not slippery.
The vocabulary words for this week are listed below:
1. bill - a written idea for a law
2. veto - to refuse to approve; for example to veto a bill from becoming a law
3. satellite - a spacecraft used to connect radio, telephone, and television communications
4. pony express - a team of horseback riders who rode across western United States to deliver mail from 1860 to 1861
5. Great Depression - a period of widespread economic hardship in the 1930's
This means a very large number of people lost their jobs and many businesses failed.
SECOND GRADE HOMEWORK
3/11 Social Studies test Wed. on all definitions in the glossary. Study also the location of the ten states that will be covered in class. See US map in back of text book.
3/14 Religion test on Fri. Review how to pray the rosary, the Apostles' Creed, and the mysteries of the rosary. In Rel. Workbook answer p. 38.
3/14 Vocabulary test Fri. Study all fifteen weekly definitions in the notebook.
THIRD GRADE HOMEWORK
3/11 Social Studies test Wed. on Chapter 10. Study all notes for the chapter: vocabulary, facts, skills, and summing up. In SS notebook write Workbook p. 61. Write each word and definition.
3/14 Religion quiz on Fri. Review the ten commandments, Jesus' Greatest Commandments, and the seven sacraments. In Rel. Workbook answer p. 40. Follow directions on page.
FOURTH GRADE HOMEWORK
3/11 Social Studies test Wed. on Chapter 10. Study all notes for the chapter: vocabulary, facts,
cause/ effect,... In SS notebook write Workbook p. 59. Answer each in a sentence.
3/14 Religion quiz on Fri. See the index p 336 to choose a saint that practiced corporal and/or
spiritual works of mercy and be able to explain who and how. Review the ten commandments and Jesus' Greatest Commandments. In Rel. Workbook answer p. 49.
