Review Notes for Final Exams for 3rd & 4th for ELA

Students in all grades will be taking the ELA Final on June 11th.  I will be preparing the test for 3rd and 4th grades only.

FOURTH GRADE
Review the following:
*ALL uses of capital letters (Speller p. 249)
*ALL uses of commas (Speller p. 251) including use with quotation marks (Speller p. 248)
*ALL uses of apostrophes (Speller p. 250) in possessives and contractions
*abbreviations (Speller pp. 247-248)
*synonyms: Review  all more  descriptive synonyms for verbs and adjectives on  Other Ways to Say sheet
*parts of speech (noun, adjective, pronoun, verb, adverb, conjunction) Practice Grammar Gorillas on www.funbrain.com
*prefixes and suffixes: Review sheet in ELA notebook . Know meaning of each and how to use to form real words
*distinguish: its/it's ,  your/you're  ,   there/their/they're,    two/to/too
*practice using transition words in a composition.  See sheet on transition words in ELA notebbok

*homophones  (eg. meet/meat ,   through/threw   , plane/plain)
*homographs (eg.      live,       dove,        wind)
*distinguish: its/ it's,        your/you're  ,   there/their/they're
*meaning of idioms listed on sheet in ELA folder
*practice comparing and contrasting by describing similarities and differeces in a composition
