Homework for 2nd, 3rd,& 4th for 2/4 to 2/8

Dear Parents,                                                  PLEASE CHECK FOR UPDATE ON ELA QUIZ!
         Please make sure that all test folders you were given are complete and kept in a safe place as childre will be needing to refer to them again during the school year.  Last week's quizzes have been postponed to this week so last Friday's   ELA quiz will be given this Tuesday and Monday's Religion (on bullying notes) quiz will be given on Wednesday. Then there will be another ELA quiz this Fri.
          We are now beginning the third quarter (the most important) and will be doing Unit 3 work.  Please check below your child's grade to view this week's homework:

 FOURTH GRADE
ELA 2/5  Choose a FICTION book(from the list on last week's homework) on the SAME animal you researched.  Then on loose leaf write a heading and give the following information: Title, Author, Names of animal characters, THREE character traits of the main animal character (citing text evidence of character displaying these traits), ONE example of personification (citing text evidence), and Summary (using somebody -wanted-but-so  strategy)
REMEMBER TO STUDY RELIGION NOTES ON BULLYING FOR RELIGION QUIZ ON WED.

REL 2/7 Study text pp. 120 to 129. Answer p. 130 (just answers) on loose leaf.  MEMORIZE the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy on pp. 138-139.
REMEMBER TO STUDY JOURNAL NOTES FOR ELA QUIZ ON FRIDAY.  REVIEW ALL  VOCABULARY FROM LEAR'S NONSENSE LIMERICKS.  PRACTICE  CREATING A 5 LINE LIMERICK FOLLOWING  THE CORRECT RHYME AND RHYTHM PATTERN.  NAME TWO CHARACTER TRAITS OF THE MAIN ANIMAL CHARACTER IN YOUR FICION BOOK AND BE ABLE TO CITE EVIDNCE FROM THE BOOK YOU CHOSE OF HOW HE DISPLAYS THESE TRAITS. 

THIRD GRADE
ELA 2/5 Review  the research you did on a notable person. On looseleaf write a heading.  Create a WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, HOW, and WHY question about that person.  Write a brief answer to each question under each question that can be found in the research.

REL 2/7 Study text pp. 208 to 217. Answer p. 218 (just answers) onlooseleaf. MEMORIZE the four steps of Reconciliation and what each means.
REMEMBER TO STUDY JOURNAL NOTES FOR ELA QUIZ ON FRIDAY. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COORDINATING AND SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS.
KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SIMPLE, COMPLEX, AND COMPOUND SENTENCES  BE ABLE TO CREATE A HOW AND A WHY QUESTION AND ANSWER BASED ON THE RESEARCH YOU DID ON YOUR NOTABLE PERSON.

SECOND GRADE
ELA 2/5 On looseleaf write a heading.  Copy the graphic organizer on an animal done last week.  Under it on the same paper write a title. Then write a paragraph (as shown in class) with an introduction and a conclusion and information listed in the graphic organizer.

REL 2/7 Study text pp. 172 to 180. Answer p. 182 (just answers) on looseleaf. MEMORIZE the definitions on p. 180.
REMEMBER TO STUDY JOURNAL NOTES FOR ELA QUIZ ON FRIDAY. REVIEW THE ANIMAL CATEGORIES WE STUDIED IN CLASS SUCH AS ANIMAL FEATURES,      ANIMAL SOUNDS, ANIMAL MOVEMENTS, HABITAT, BEHAVIOR AND KNOW WHAT WORDS BELONG ON EACH LIST.  BE ABLE TO GIVE TWO EXAMPLES FOR EACH OF THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES THAT YOU WOULD USE TO WRITE TO A FRIEND:

*NEWS ABOUT ME
*FEELINGS TO SHARE.
BE ABLE TO WRITE A SENTENCE FOR EACH ONE OF THE WORDS YOU  LIST UNDER EACH CATEGORY WHICH IS ALTOGETHER SIX SENTENCES.
