Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grades for 1/21 to 1/24

Dear Parents,
         IF YOUR CHILD HAS NOT RETURNED THE FOUR UNIT 1 AND 2 TESTS IN ELA AND RELIGION, PLEASE RETURN THEM THIS WEEK SIGNED.  WHEN IT IS TIME FOR FINAL EXAMS AND STUDENTS NEED TO REVIEW THEIR PAST UNIT TESTS, IF TESTS HAVE NOT BEEN RETURNED TO ME FOR FILING, IT WIL BE THEIR LOSS!       
          This week we are  beginning Unit 4, although we will also be reviewing Unit 3 for the Interim (on line ) test in early February. Report cards will be distributed at the end of this month and Parent - Teacher conferences will be held as well.

FOURTH GRADE
ELA 1/21 Each student was assigned either HORSE, DOG, or MOUSE to research as part of this unit's work. Research general information on the animal you were assigned and make sure it is based on facts. On loose leaf write a full heading in script.  List facts about its body features, possible habitats, diet, natural enemies, ways of protecting itself, and life expectancy.  This is due Thurs.
For next week you will be reading fiction books on the SAME animal . Below are examples of books you may use:
    HORSE: Black Beauty     The Black Stallion           DOG: The Trouble with Tuck -by Theodore Taylor      Lassie Come Home          MOUSE: The Mouse and the Motorcycle or Ralph S. Mouse  by Beverly Cleary         Ben and Me by Robert Lawson.




THIRD  GRADE
ELA 1/21 Each student was assigned a CREATIVE or INVENTIVE individual to research as part of their unit's work.   Research information on the life  and work of this notable person. On loose leaf write a full heading and answer the following questions:  What are some interesting facts about this person's life?  What are examples of this person's creations or inventions?  What caused him to invent or create these works?  What have  been some effects of their invention or creation?  Are their inventions or creations still used or seen today? How?


SECOND GRADE
ELA 1/21 Today in class I read a biography and an autobiography on the life of Ruby Bridges as part of unit's work.  We will be continue to study about other famous African -Americans this week.  Students need to watch the video on "Henry's Freedom Box" on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CA0iNLquLZo . On loose leaf write a full heading.  Write a title and a paragraph explaining what happened to Henry and describing  what  he was thinking and  how he was feeling about what was happening to him. . Explain what you would do if you were in his place.The paragraph should have six complete sentences.
