Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades 11/30-12/4

Dear Parents.
Starting this week I will be preparing all students for the season of Advent. Students will be helping me create in class an Advent wreath and a Jesse tree display decorated with Biblical symbols which we will be studying along with corresponding scripture readings for each day beginning Dec. 1st. Religion notes will be given and text pages assigned that should be studied for a test on Advent just before the holiday. A test will be given to each class also on the ten commandments this week so all students should be memorizing these.
The vocabulary definitions for this week are:
Advent - Church season lasting four weeks in which Christians prepare for the birth of Jesus
Nativity - scene showing the birth of Jesus
Advent wreath - a round garland of leaves with four candles (violet and rose colored) used to celebrate the coming of Jesus
stable - place where Jesus was born -- usually used as a barn for animals
manger - place where Jesus was laid -- usually used to hold food for the animals

The principal will be distributing test papers this Thursday to all classes. All tests must be
signed and returned to the teacher teaching that subject, so Social Studies and Religion and Penmanship tests should be returned to me no later than Mon., Dec. 7 so they can be filed.

Second Grade Homework:
***Each student in 2nd grade will be assigned one bible project this week that will need to be completed by next Wed., Dec. 9th. Direction sheets will be sent home that need to be returned with the project. All projects should be no larger than shoe box size so they can all be displayed in class within a limited space. We will be relating each project to a Jesse tree biblical ornament and corresponding scripture reading. If any parent sees difficulty in helping his/her child with the assigned project, please write me a note for an alternate choice, but each student will be responsible for completing one project tp the best of his ability.
