Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades for 9/9 to 9/13

Dear Parents,
         Welcome to a new school year!  Please be sure that your child  have ALL  THEIR CORRECT SUPPLIES  listed on my August SUPPLIES  blog no later than Tuesday this week .  This is VERY IMPORTANT since I will be color coding composition notebooks, collecting folders, etc. on Monday and by Tuesday I plan to begin giving notes!   MOST IMPORTANT: Please be sure each child has THREE plastic folders (as sold in supply room) and TWO 100 page hard cover composition notebooks,  a stack of about 500 blank printing sheets (to be kept in school), THREE sharpened pencils with erasers, a pack of a dozen colored pencils, TWO large flat zippered pencil cases, and a looseleaf pad. The rest of the supplies can be brought in during the week.  Please send in  the forms distributed at the opening meeting including the two emergency cards  no later than this Wednesday. Keep the absent note form and make copies so you can use throughout the year. You should also keep the homework rubrics sheet.

          I will be assigning homework on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS so assignments will be due on Wednesdays and Fridays. Homework will be done on looseleaf with a full heading or in a Religion workbook or Handwriting book. Several homework assignments will involve during research on the internet or in the  library. Homework assigned in the ELA Workbook will need to be done on looseleaf since students are NOT allowed to write in this book. This applies to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.  Any homework done on looseleaf must have a full heading as stated on the rubrics sheet you received and as was explained in class.

FOURTH GRADE
ELA 9/10 On looseleaf write full heading in script.  Answer ELA Workbook p. 1 Follow directions.
Do #1 to 11. DO NOT WRITE IN WORKBOOK!  Research about the Native American mound builders on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg9ZXvulMQE  and
 http://www.ahastories.com/NativeAmericanQuotes.htm

REL 9/12 In Religion Workbook answer p. 5.
Handwriting 9/12  In workbook do pp. 10 and 11 in script.
**The first weekly ELA Quiz  begins NEXT Friday!  Study ALL notes in ELA notebook.  All weekly quizzes consist of ten questions and the last one is always an essay question which requires the children to write out an answer in complete sentences.

THIRD GRADE
ELA 9/10 On looseleaf print a full heading.  Answer ELA Workbook p.1. Do #1 to O12.  Do not copy sentences; instead write S for sentence or F for fragment only. DO NOT WRITE IN WORKBOOK!  Interview someone in your home about relating an interesting family story you might want .to tell the class. This is in preparation for an upcoming assignment.  Write some brief notes on an index card if you like.

REL 9/12 In Religion Workbook p. 4. Write FOUR complete sentences to answer the question. Print.
Handwriting  9/12- In workbook do pp. 32 and 33 in script.
**The first weekly ELA Quiz begins NEXT Friday!  STUDY ALL NOTES IN ELA NOTEBOOK!  All weekly quizzes consist of ten questions and the last one is always an essay question which requires the children to write out an answer in complete sentences.

SECOND GRADE
ELA 9/10 On looseleaf print a full heading. Workbook p. 9.  Follow directions in book
BUT DO NOT WRITE IN WORKBOOK!  Study 12 weekly memory words in Superkids Word Book on p. 4 for quiz.

REL 9/12 In Religion Workbook answer p. 5.
Handwriting 9/12  In workbook do pp. 12 and 13.
**The first weekly ELA Quiz begins NEXT Friday!  For this  quiz study Super kids Word Book pp.4, 5, 6 and know how to spell all memory words on p. 4.  Study any notes in ELA notebook.  All weekly quizzes consist of ten questions and the last one is always an essay question which requires the children to write out an answer in complete sentences.
