Dear Parents,
The assigned summer reading book for July for students entering third grade in September 2016 is Loyola Kids Book of Saints by Amy Welborn. The questions are divided per chapter as directed by Mr. Woods. The questions should be answered on looseleaf beginning with a full heading and neatly written. Each answer should be numbered correctly, written in complete sentences, and based on TEXT EVIDENCE. I suggest that students pace themselves reading ONE chapter and responding to each set of questions PER DAY or every other day so reading is consistent and enjoyable, not overwhelming. One or two sentence responses are fine.

Supply List and Summer Reading Book Titles for Upcoming Third Grade
Dear Parents,
Below is a list of the supplies needed for the upcoming THIRD GRADE. This list covers what is needed for all three teachers.
-5 marble notebooks (no spiral notebooks) and 1 marble graph paper notebook for Math
-9 folders (plastic ones only with front and back slip in panels and two inside pockets on the bottom. These can be bought in schools supply room- PLEASE LABEL WITH NAME ONLY -NOTHING ELSE!
-3 sharpened pencils (no mechanical pencils)
-erasers
-1 pack of color pencils (no markers)
-1 shapener that keeps trash inside
-2 pencils cases (no plastic boxes)
*one pencil case for regular pencils , erasers, sharpener. The second for color pencils and glue stick.
-1 lunch box (NOT attached to the book bag or roller cart) --only if student wishes to bring his own lunch or snack
- 1 sturdy book bag or roller cart
-2 rolls of paper towels
-2 containers of bleach wipes
-3 reams of white copy paper (500 sheets each) - label each pack with name -to be collected for copies

Notices for Monday, June 27th
Dear Parents,
On Monday and Tuesday ALL students MUST be in complete school uniform (NO gym clothes or dress up) At 10:00 there will be an Award Ceremony in which special awards will be given out to some children who have shown excellence in a particular subject or way during the school year. Although we try to include as many students as possible, please understand all cannot be chosen. In the afternoon the THIRD grade will have a pizza party. Please send in $3.00 with your child IF you have not done so already. Students should also bring in their own juice or soda but no glass or large bottles. Students were also assigned to bring in ONE snack bag or box of treats to share with the class. These were discussed with the class already so all don't bring in the same thing. Report cards will NOT be given out until Tuesday and students will be leaving early that day to enjoy their summer break! Please remember that all students in each grade will be required to read TWO books and answer questions on these during their summer vacation. Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th for June 13th to 17th
Dear Parents,
Since all students will be taking final exams in other subject areas every day this week, I will not be assigning any other work except to review the ELA quizzes sent last week and follow the ELA Study Guide that has been posted on the blog. The ELA Final Exam is scheduled for next Monday, June 20th. It is a test which requires answering 40 questions covering vocabulary, grammar, phonics, literature, and writing a complete essay with an introduction, conclusion, and transition words based on a guideline! For second grade it will involve writing a letter. I will assessing students during the week based on the information on the quizzes and the study guide and it will count toward theri final grade. I will be working on bullying awareness activities during the week for Religion which will also count toward their final grade. Students in third grade who wish may bring in $4.00 for pizza on Monday and their own juice to drink.

Since all students will be taking final exams in other subject areas every day this week, I will not be assigning any other work except to review the ELA quizzes sent last week and follow the ELA Study Guide that has been posted on the blog. The ELA Final Exam is scheduled for next Monday, June 20th. It is a test which requires answering 40 questions covering vocabulary, grammar, phonics, literature, and writing a complete essay with an introduction, conclusion, and transition words based on a guideline! For second grade it will involve writing a letter. I will assessing students during the week based on the information on the quizzes and the study guide and it will count toward theri final grade. I will be working on bullying awareness activities during the week for Religion which will also count toward their final grade. Students in third grade who wish may bring in $4.00 for pizza on Monday and their own juice to drink.

Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for June 6 to 10
Dear Parents,
Please remember that there is no school this Friday once again. This gives students plenty of opportunity to study for final exams. An ELA study guide for each grade hs been posted separately weeks ago and can be found by checking my blog archive under the pictures I have posted. Please check for updates in case you already previously made a copy. ALL corrected ELA quizzes for each grade were sent home last Thursday so students can review with plenty of time since the ELA Final Exam is scheduled for June 20th.
ALL GRADES:
6/7 ELA - Review ALL ELA quizzes or tests sent home last week. I will continue giving daily assessments based on information contained on these quizzes.
