Homework for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades for Nov. 28 to Dec. 2

Dear Parents,
This Friday we have 12:00 dismissal. This week second grade will start a new Domain  6 on "Cycles of Nature."  Third and fourth grades will be introduced to a new module and each student will be assigned a specific topic to research by the end of week.
Each third grade will be assigned a different country and will be taking notes on its culture leading into a letter writing assignment.   Books will be provided in class from the following sources: National Geographic: Countries of the World, Explore the Countries by Buddy Books, Lerner Country Explorers, and True Books from Scholastic.  Students may buy or borrow their own books from similar sources if they wish. Students may also try the free trial for Reading A to Z for more books on countries.
Each fourth grader will be assigned a different animal to research and will take notes on how the animal defends itself from its predators. This will lead into writing a narrative based on research based FACTS on the animal. To begin, students should click on the following links animal defense mechanisms #1 and animal defense mechanisms #2 to familiarize themselves with the topic.

Please see below for this week's homework:

Important Notices for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grades for Nov. 10 to 14.

Dear Parents,
On Thursday each student received from their home room teacher  a sheet or sheets with test results. The NWEA refers to the computer based test they took recently.  This sheet shows how students performed  in the different areas of Math, Reading, and ELA.  Any area marked in yellow is an area of WEAKNESS that needs to be given attention. In the ELA section Grammar refers to word usage, how ideas are expressed. Mechanics refers  mostly to use of  capitalization and punctuation.  Writing refers to how ideas are organized and how well students revise their written work. Each teacher left a comment suggesting what might help bring improvement to any area of weakness.  Some students also received an attached sheet listing ITBS and NYSESLAT test scores for last year only  IF  there is any area of weakness that needs attention. ALL PARENTS NEED TO SIGN EACH FORM AND SEND BOTH BACK ON MONDAY!
This is a reminder also that ALL TEST FOLDERS ARE DUE BACK ON MONDAY WITH ALL FOUR ELA AND FOUR RELIGION QUIZZES INSIDE EACH SIGNED BY THE PARENT.
