Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grades for 1/2 to 1/6

Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome back!  The holiday is over and it's soon time to return. In the following three weeks we will be completing Unit 3. The January Mid-term Exams will cover Units 1, 2 and 3 in both ELA and Religion. Please have students review the following to prepare for the work in the coming weeks.

FOURTH GRADE
ELA - Click on the following link http://www.funbrain.com/roots/index.html and practice rooting out words only under the heading SIMPLE.  Be sure to begin with the tutorial and then continue with the easy, medium, and hard in that order.  An assessment will be given on this next Tuesday.
By the end of next week students will also need to be writing opinion essay expressing their point of view on events occurring the American Revolution.   Their point of view MUST BE BASED ON ACTUAL EVENTS DURING THE REVOLUTION  that caused them to have that opinion. Students will need to read first and third person narrations on the subject.  Students will need to read ONE of the following books by Jean Fritz:  Can't You Make Them Behave, King George?   or And Then What Happened, Paul Revere   or  Where Was Patrick Henry on the 29th of May?    or   What's  the Big Idea, Ben Franklin?   Students can then base their opinions on research they have done on one of these historical figures.  Students can also use on -line information for further information.

RELIGION - Be sure to have printed out all Unit 1, Unit 2, and Unit 3 flash card words from www.sadlierreligion.com.  and be sure to review all definitions for upcoming assessments.  I will begin working on essay questions when students return and give additional definitions.
