Third and fourth graders (as you know) will be taking their Math State Tests on Tues., Wed., and Thurs. (April 29 to May 2) so main focus should be on that. ELA , Spelling, and Religion assessments will be given the following week. Below is a list of spelling words for each grade to be reviewed:
Fourth: too, two, you're, your, there, they're, their, hear, here, whether, weather
Third: believe, caught, does, knew, question, ready, thought, usually, another, important, friendly
Second: our, hour, no, know, blue, blew, two, too, flour, flower, red, read
All grades must have their Religion Unit 1, 2, 3, and 4 flash cards from www.sadlierreligion.com printed out, glued on 3x5 index cards and stored in four different sandwich bags clearly labeled.
Below is a list of additional words that each grade is responsible to know and will be given in assessments.

Saint’s Day – Nov.1 All Soul’s

Moral choice- choosing to do what is right according to God’s law. Feelings are NOT an accurate sign of whether our choice is right or wrong. One can be glad for making a wrong moral choice or be sad for making a right moral choice. Be able to give example of each.
Steps
for making a good moral choice: pray for the help of the Holy Spirit, recall
God’s law and Church teachings, consider the consequences of the choice, seek
advice when necessary, remember Jesus is with us and speak with him about the
choice, recall that our decision affects our relationship with God and others. Memorize.
Conscience
formation is a lifelong process. It means learning to know and to choose the
good that God wants for us. It is through conscience that we judge whether an
act is right or wrong. Free will – the
ability to make choices.Idolatry – worship of false gods
Adultery- being unfaithful to one’s husband or wife
Bear false witness – lie or spread rumors or gossip
Covet – desiring what is not ours
Advent
– beginning of the church season- preparation for Christmas (birth of Jesus)-
lasts four weeks. We use Advent wreath with four candles- We
decorate a Jesse Tree with Bible symbols- We set up a Nativity scene of Jesus’
birth. Advent is a season of expectancy.
Lent
– lasts forty days in preparation for Easter (resurrection of Jesus) . Begins
Ash Wednesday and ends Easter Sunday. Liturgical color is purple. We fast (give up foods we like) and do almsgiving (donate money, food, clothes
to the poor). We pray the Stations of
the Cross.
Sin-
choice to disobey God’s law by thought, word, action, or omission (failure to do what is right)
Covenant
– agreement God made with the Israelites ((Chosen People) to teach them to
love.True Freedom comes from following Jesus’ Law of Love. The more one does what is good, the freer one becomes. There is no true freedom except of what is good and just.
Ten Commandments –law of God to do good and
avoid evil given to Moses on Mount Sinai.
First three deal with love of God and the last seven deal with love of
neighbor. Memorize each of the Ten
Commandments.
Jesus’
Two Great Commandments- “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And you
shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Memorize.Jesus’ New Commandment- “Love one another. Such as my love has been for you, so must your love be for one another.” Memorize.
Beatitudes – ideals of Christian behavior. These are Jesus’ teachings to reveal God’s plan for our true happiness. It is also called Sermon on the Mount. Memorize each of the Beatitudes.
Holiness
–sharing in God’s goodness and responding to God’s love by the way we live
Saint- person of holiness recognized by the Church
Communion of Saints- binds together those on earth with those in heaven
Presider’s Chair- shows the priest’s authority to teach the faith
Sacred vessels- objects used during the Mass such as chalice, paten, cruets
Stewardship – share and care for God’s creation
Joyful Mysteries: Memorize. Saint- person of holiness recognized by the Church
