Dear Parents,
Since we did not receive any quizzes for distribution on Friday, the ELA quizzes have been postponed till this Monday and therefore the Religion quizzes will be given on Tuesday. Below is a reminder of what was on the previous study guide for ELA as well as the guide for Religion quiz.
FOURTH
ELA QUIZ ON MONDAY: Study all vocabulary definitions at the beginning of the Unit 1 notes. Study all notes on the book And Still the Turtle Watched, the story "The Boy Who Wanted the Moon," and the poem "Indian Names." Be able to explain the theme of each. Be able to give examples of artistic license and personification. The review section will be on figuring out the meaning of words using context clues.
RELIGION QUIZ ON TUESDAY. Study all notes in Religion notebook as well Chapter 3 and 4 in the Religion book. Know the definitions for conscience, examination of conscience, conscience formation, temptation, feelings, sin. Memorize the steps for making a good moral choice (notebook). Be able to explain how we can feel sad for making a right moral choice and how we can feel happy for making a wrong moral choice.
THIRD
ELA QUIZ ON MONDAY. Study all vocabulary definitions at the beginning of the Unit 1 notes. Study ALL notes on the book The Stories Julian Tells. Be able to describe at least two character traits for each character and explain their motivation for acting the way they do. The review section will be on figuring out the meaning of words using context clues.
RELIGION QUIZ ON TUESDAY. Study all notes in Religion notebook as well pp. 296 to 299 in Religion book.
Know the definitions for parable, faith, scripture, Resurrection, Kingdom of God. Be able to explain what happens in each of the parables of the Kingdom: "The Mustard Seed." and "The Sower of Seeds." The later parable will be covered on Monday in class. Be able to explain what each parable means.
SECOND
ELA QUIZ ON MONDAY. Study all vocabulary definitions at the beginning of the Unit 1 notes. Watch the video again and study notes on the character traits of Charlotte, Wilbur , and Templeton. Review how to correct run- on sentences. Review all parts of a letter including capitalization and punctuation in letter parts
RELIGION QUIZ ON TUESDAY. Study all Notes in notebook as well as Chapter 2 in Religion book. Know the definitions for unborn, elderly, and handicapped (reviewed in class), Resurrection, Pentecost, Church, apostles, disciples. Be able to describe two ways the Holy Spirit helps the Church.
