Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grades for 2/10 to 2/14 READ UPDATE MADE 2/13

Dear Parents,
         ELA quiz is rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 18th. All students were told  on Wed. to take their ELA notebooks home.    Please check the next blog for 2/13 to 2/17  for further information on upcoming homework or quizzes.  Please stand-by for necessary weather related adjustments, revisions,  etc.            Thank you for your cooperation.                            Ms. Saville
          

   On Wed. Feb. 12 students will be taking the Interim test for ELA and there will be an ELA quiz on Thurs. for each grade.  Please see below for study guide:

FOR QUIZ REVIEW FF TERMS: PROSE, POETRY, DRAMA AND ALL THE ELEMENTS LISTED UNDER EACH IN THE NOTES.  REVIEW NON-FICTION INFORMATION ABOUT THE ANIMAL YOU RESEARCHED SUCH AS CHARACTERISTICS, HABITAT, ETC.   KNOW THE TITLE  AND AUTHOR OF THE FICTIONAL BOOK YOU READ AND BE ABLE TO SUMMARIZE IT.






THIRD Study all pages starred in ELA notebook including:
 regular and irregular plural nouns (mn/men)
 concrete vs. abstract nouns ( eg. chair vs. truth) ,
 regular and irregular verbs (see/saw/have seen)
 verb tenses (present, past, future), subject-verb agreement  (The boy eats / The boys eat)
pronoun-antecedent agreement   (The man ate HIS dinner / The men ate THEIR dinner),
 coordinating (and, but, so) and subordinating (however, although , because) conjunctions, comparative and superlative adjectives (taller, tallest) and adverbs (more quickly, most quickly)
simple, complex, compound sentences (know the difference).


FOR QUIZ REVIEW ALL PAGES STARRED IN THE NOTEBOOK. BE ABLE TO GIVE EXAMPLES OF COODINATING CONJUNTIONS, SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS, AND DIFFERENT TYPES OF ADVERBS.  REVIEW HOW TO WRITE SIMPLE, COMPLEX, AND COMPOUND SENTENCES.










SECOND Study all notes in ELA notebook as well as
 use of comma in a series, in parts of a letter, and between names  of city and state (or country)
use of apostrophes in contractions and in possessives
