Homework for Feb. 23 to 28 for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th UPDATED!

Dear Parents,
         This Monday, Feb. 24th  all students will be taking the weekly Religion quiz and please be aware  there will be the weekly ELA quiz this Friday as well.  Please see below for a study guide for the Religion quiz for each grade. 

FOURTH  Study Chapter 18 (Seventh Commandment), Chapter 19 (Eight Commandment),and Chapter 22 (Ninth Commandment).  Be  sure to study all key words in these chapters. Review what the eighth commandment states about keeping promises.

THIRD  Study Chapters 16 and 17. Be sure to study all key words in these chapters.  Review well the correct Mass responses on p. 205. Be able to explain what happens during each of the following: gospel, homily, consecration, communion.

SECOND  |Study Chapters 16 and 17.  Be sure to study all key words in these chapters.  Be sure to   study all key words in these chapters.  Review as well all Religion notes recorded about the parts of the Mass. Review p. 203 about the Prayer of the Faithful.

 NOTE:  Many students need to study MUCH BETTER for Spelling tests .Students had over a week to study!    For Tuesday's homework all students will need to write each word they got wrong on the last quiz ten times each.


FOURTH 
ELA 2/25  Based on notes about the book of poetry titled Scranimals, create a name for an imaginary character of your own by combining the name of an animal and a plant (fruit or vegetable).  On a 3x5 index card write the name as title and write a four verse poem with rhyme scheme A B A B and meter 3,3,3,3 about the animal.  Then on a blank sheet (held horizontally) write the name of the animal on the top left  and staple your index card on the top right.  On the bottom write your name and draw/color a suitable habitat for your imaginary animal along with a drawing  in it of what your animal might look like. USE YOR IMAGINATION!
Spelling word corrections  (ten times each on looseleaf) along with the signed  Spelling quiz are due back this Friday!

ELA 2/27 ELA Quiz tomorrow. Study all notes on Scranimals. Look up the meaning of all unknown words in the selections given, especially the adjectives. Study the rhyme scheme and meter of each of the selections.  Study notes on the poem "Rhinoceros" by Ogden Nash.  Look up the meaning of unknown words.  Review the poem sample YOU created.

RELIGION QUIZ ON MONDAY.  STUDY CHAPTER ON THE TENTH COMMANDMENT AND ALL NOTES ON THE BEATITUDES.  MEMORIZE THE EIGHT BEATITUDES.  BE ABLE TO MATCH THE BEGINNING AND ENDING OF EACH AND KNOW WHAT THE DIFFERENT TERMS MEAN  (eg. "poor in spirit")

THIRD
ELA 2/25 Based on the research that you did on your creative or inventive person, make up six questions that start with: Who, What, Where, When, Why, and  How.   Then on looseleaf write a heading. Make a T chart.  On the left side write each of the six questions you made up.  On the right write the answer to each of  these questions based on research,  not guessing.

ELA 2/27 ELA Quiz tomorrow.  Study the meaning of  these terms: topic, fact, opinion, linking word.  Study The Sign Painter  by Allen Say on  http://www.watchknowlearn.org/Video.aspx?VideoID=41668&CategoryID=10495. Review how to ask and answer who, what, where, when, why, how questions on the story. able to summarize the story using Somebody-Wanted-But-So strategy.
RELIGION QUIZ ON MONDAY.  STUDY CHAPTERS 15 AND 19 ON THE SACRAMENTS.
REVIEW ALSO LAST NOTES ON THE PARTS OF THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST  AND P. 205 ON THE CORRECT RESPONSES AT MASS.


SECOND
ELA 2/25  Based on what we learned about inventions (see definition in notebook), create one of your own.  On a blank sheet, held horizontally, write the name of your invention on top, In the middle draw diagram of your invention. Then  label at least three of its parts.  Then on the bottom draw lines and  write three complete sentences describing your invention and what it does,  Write your full name on the bottom.

ELA 2/27 ELA Quiz tomorrow.  Study the meaning of these terms: outline, essay, reason, edit, revise
Review notes on explaining HOW and WHY.  Review how to make a diagram and label  an invention.  Study the model paragraph in the notebook on answering a question  with reasons. Review changing a question into a statement as an introduction. Review giving reasons for your answer and review writing a conclusion.
RELIGION QUIZ ON MONDAY.  STUDY CHAPTERS 18 AND 19.  BE SURE TO KNOW ALL KEY WORDS.
