Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th for 10/3 to 10/7

Dear Parents,
          This Friday, Oct. 7th, school will be closed as well as the following Monday for Columbus Day. On Tuesday at 9:00 we will have our Mass of St. Francis of Assisi. On that day all students are allowed to bring their pets to school to be blessed during the Mass. However parents MUST be able to take their pets home right after the Mass. They are not allowed to leave their pets in school till dismissal.. The weekly Religion quiz has been postponed for Wed., Oct. 5 and the next ELA quiz will be given on Wed., next week due to the two days off.
SECOND GRADE PLEASE SEND IN THE SUPERINTENDENT FORM IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO!  SOME FOURTH GRADERS HAVE STILL NOT ORDERED THE BOOK ON THE IROQUOIS.  IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL STUDENTS HAVE THIS BOOK TO DO THEIR WORK AND PREPARE FOR TESTS!!!!!!

FOURTH
10/4 Religion Quiz on Wed. Study reading sheet on Virtues, review questions on the back.  Memorize all the definitions on Virtue Description sheet. Memorize any four Bible passages including the book, chapter, and verses numbers for each.

10/6  ELA  Quiz is scheduled for next Wed. Study all vocabulary definitions in notebook:   reservation, gamble, reputation, symbolic, preserve, unprecedented, accomplished.  Look up in Grammar Workshop definitions for fragment, sentence, run-on, declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory, coordinating conjunction, simple and compound sentences.  Look up and practice ALL of these language skills on ixl using using your own user name and password so I can check your work!
Fourth graders should also reread  carefully the article we studied in class on this link on three lacrosse players for the quiz.
ELA homework was corrected and sent home. Please review errors!




THIRD
10/4 Religion Quiz on Wed. Study Chapter 2.  Memorize all key words.On looseleaf write heading answer all questions on p. 42 (answers only). Study all written notes on the Blessed Trinity.  Review all Bible verses on the sheet (just study, don't memorize).

10/6  ELA  Quiz is scheduled for next Wed. Study all vocabulary definitions in notebook:  access, challenge, connection, proficient, prediction, demonstrate, reflect.  Look up in Grammar Workshop definitions for fragment, sentence, run-on, statement, question, command, exclamation, coordinating conjunction, simple and compound sentences.  Look up and practice ALL of these language skills on ixl using using your own user name and password so I can check your work!
If you wish you can review the books we studied in class by watching them on youtube.  The titles are: Thank You, Mr. Falker,  The Boy Who Loved Books,  The Incredible Book Eating Boy,  and  Waiting for the Biblioburro.

10/6 ELA Quiz is scheduled for next Wed. Study all vocabulary definitions in notebook: admiration, colossal, frontier, inseparable, energy, persuaded, relaxed, tame,challenge, compete, feats, solution, steam, mounted, legendary, passengers, pride.  Study the three different ways to make the plural form of nouns also in the notebook. Look up and practice on ixl the following skills:  A1,C1, C2, C3, C41.

If you wish you can review the stories we studied in class by checking for them on line. The fairy tales were  The Fisherman and His Wife,   The Emperor's New Clothes,   and Beauty and the Beast.  The tall tales were Paul Bunyan,   Pecos Bill,   John Henry,  and Casey Jones.
