Homework for Jan. 29 to Feb. 2 for Class 1-2

Dear Parents,
          Just a reminder this week Open House is 9 to 11 on Monday for anyone who wishes to visit. Wednesday is the Religion Fair.  Thursday report cards will be distributed. Friday we have 12:00 dismissal and Parent Teacher Conferences will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 pm in the Science room.

Lesson Plan

Homework for Jan. 29
Math - Do  pp. 8. 9. and 10. Use the paper strip in folder.
Phonics - Read p. 125 and do pp. 126 and 127.
ELA Writing Test is tomorrow. Students should review Far From Home and Going to School  on www.pearsonrealize.com (see card in folder for login info).  Choose ONE character from either book and think how their experiences at school are  alike and also how they are different from your experiences at school.
*Today all students took the on-line ELA tests to complete Unit 2. So quizzes will be sent home tomorrow after taking the ELA Writing Test. All tests must be signed and returned by Thursday.

Homework for Jan. 30
Math - Do pp, 15, 16, and 17.
Phonics - Do pp. 128, 129, and 130.
**Please sign each test sent home and return by Thursday: three Phonics, one Math, one Science, one Social Studies, one ELA Writing Test (on loose leaf), one Religion.
***Those who missed Handwriting need to do pp. 30-31 (Gg) by Friday.

Homework for Jan. 31
Phonics - Do pp. 131 and 132.
Religion- In Reflections workbook do pp. 10 and 11. Be sure to follow the directions. Write THREE complete sentences under your picture.
Social Studies - In notebook copy and study the following words with their definitions:
1. citizens- people who are members of a community, state, or country
2. laws- rules for a community, state, or country
3. leader - person who is in charge of things
4. petition- a special letter that many people sign
5. city council- a group of citizens who run the city and meet to talk about city problems

6. vote- to choose something
7. tax- money people pay to the community for things everyone uses
8. order- telling what happens first, next, then last

***You have until Friday to finish writing these definitions and study for a short assessment.
***No Math homework tonight!
REPORT CARDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AT 1:30 TOMORROW, THURSDAY.

Homework for Feb. 1
REPORT CARDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AT 1:30 TODAY
Math - Do pp. 21, 22, and 23. Use cubes given in class and return them by tomorrow.
Phonics - Read pp. 135-136. Do pp. 137-138.
*** Make sure you have finished copying the Social Studies definitions in notebook. Study them for a short assessment. Handwriting up to p. 31 should have been completed. All due this Friday.
***If you did not send in tests signed, please remember to send them in by Friday since there is no school on Monday!
***This Thurs. and Fri. I will be reviewing the questions from the ELA tests that your children took on-line so they understand what they got wrong and why. We will be starting  Unit 3 in ELA next week.

Homework  for Feb. 2  
NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!
Math- Do pp. 27, 28, 29. READ CAREFULLY!!!!
Religion - Study Chapter 9  pp. 108 to 118 for quiz next week. Be able to explain the lesson of the parable of the Good Shepherd.
Social Studies- Study definitions in notebook: citizens, laws, leader, petition. city council, vote, tax, order.  The definitions for the last three words are listed above and should be added to the same notebook page. Be able to give an example of a community problem mentioned in the text and some things the people did (in correct order) to solve the problem. Quiz next Friday!

***ELA- I have assigned the next reader we are studying for Unit 3: The Winner's Choice (interactive version) so students can review it at home on www.pearsonrealize.com
.  I have also assigned five leveled readers: I Have a Dollar, At the Market, A Healthful Meal, Which Way Is Better? and Trading This for That.  Students should begin reading these books.  NEXT WEEK students will be asked to choose any three of these leveled readers and answer the questions in the back of each book in COMPLETE SENTENCES.  This week end just read them. To find the books first sign in correctly. Click on Classes.  Scroll down and click on #2 .  Each of the titles will appear.

*** Any one who missed Handwriting today must do pp. 32 and 33. Just follow all directions. TWO complete sentences are required on p. 33
