Homework for Jan. 8 to 12 for Class 1-2

Dear Parents,
        If all goes according to plan, all first graders will be taking the MAP test in Math on Jan. 17 and in Reading on Jan. 18 so there is one more week to review. There will be a Social Studies quiz on Friday based on Unit 3 after visitors leave.

Homework for Jan. 9th
Math - Answer workbook pp. 93 and 94.
Phonics- Answer pp. 94, 95, and 96. Read pp. 97-98.
***Corrected quizzes  distributed today, Tuesday, need to be signed by a parent and returned by Friday. These tests include 2 Math, 1 Religion, 1 Phonics, and 1 ELA (on looseleaf). Those students who have not yet read and answered questions for two Science and two Social Studies articles on www.student.frontrowed.com need to do so!
***I have assigned the trade books Far From Home and Going to School  that we are presently studying in class so you can view them online at home on www.peasonrealize

Homework for Jan. 10th
Math - Answer workbook pp. 97 and 98.  Follow directions!
Phonics- Answer pp. 99 and 100.
ELA - Study the meaning of the following words in the notebook:
1. tidy - neat
2. perfect - best, ideal
3. tucked - hidden, pushed in
4. strange - unusual, odd
5. shocked - surprised
***Students may wear play clothes this Thursday but on Friday all students MUST be in full school uniform!
***Those who did not complete or do their Handwriting this morning need to do pp. 12, 13, and 16.

Homework for Jan. 11th
Math - Answer workbook pp. 101 and 102. Remember to label both parts. Put square around answer. Write subtraction sentence this time.
Phonics - Answer pp. 101 and 102. Follow directions. Write two complete sentences on p. 102.
***Social Studies Quiz is postponed till Tuesday next week.
***Remember to bring in signed quizzes tomorrow. You MAY wear dress down clothes on Friday if you like.

Homework for Jan. 12th
Math - Answer workbook pp, 105 and 106.
Social Studies -  On loose leaf write a full heading. Answer p. 30 in the SS workbook. Write out the definition for each (do NOT just put the number and letter). Study pp.112, 113, and 114 in textbook for Social Studies on Tuesday! Be sure to study vocabulary on p. 112 and ALL skills on pp. 113,114.
***Please remember that MAP testing will be on Wed. and Thurs. next week.  I strongly suggest that students practice Math skills  and read ELA articles in www.student.frontrowed.com to prepare for this test.
***If possible I would appreciate if  each student could have a dry erase eraser ( also called whiteboard erasers) to wipe off their personal white boards.  We use the boards daily and it would be a great convenience.  You can buy them at Staples or perhaps even Dollar Tree store.  Also please have students tape in any pages that are falling out of their Math books.  Thank you!
