Homework for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grades for May 19 to 23

Dear Students,
          This Friday there will be 11:00 dismissal. and no school on Monday due to  Memorial Day.  Please see below for this Tuesday's homework and check back for Thursday's homework.



FOURTH
 ELA  5/20 Read carefully the poem "Why Dragons?" by Jane Yolen on http://www.dragonsinn.net/Poetry/whydragons.htm . On loose leaf  under the heading,write a paragraph of about 6 sentences titled Comparing Book and Poem on St. George.  Give examples of  TWO similarities between what is described in the book and in the poem. Give example of ONE  difference.  Then  under the paragraph, skip a line and describe the rhyme scheme of the poem and give two examples of poetic devices used in the poem.
REL  5/22 Review all Ten Commandments and what each means for quiz Friday. Also review the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy and the Beatitudes. Review Jesus' Two Great Commandments and Jesus' New Commandment.




THIRD
ELA 5/20 Research information about ONE sport from the RECENT SUMMER Olympic games. Print out a picture of it, glue it on construction paper, and on the back place a 3x5 index card with 3 to 4 sentences describing this sport. Then research information about ONE sport from ANCIENT GREECE Olympic games, glue it on construction paper, and on the back place a 3x5 index card with 3 to 4 sentences describing this sport.  Be ready to compare and contrast these sports.
REL  5/22 Review all Ten Commandments and what each means for quiz Friday.  Review also Jesus' Two Great Commandments.



SECOND
ELA 5/20  Begin with  a heading.  Answer pp. 46 and 49 using the ELA Workbook on ONE sheet of
 loose leaf.  Use picture clues to figure out the answers on p. 46.  Write only the answers but be sure to
spell correctly and use capital letters and periods CORRECTLY.
